Energy Efficiency Badge Course

Dear Sec 3s,

Here are the details of Energy Efficiency Badge Course.

Venue: Electricity Efficiency Centre

The venue is opposite Somerset MRT station. All of us should be there by 8.30am. Attire for the course is guide T shirt and school skirt and the things to bring to the course are latest utilities bill with bar chart consumption (photocopies are acceptable) and a calculator.

The course falls on the 15th and 22nd of June and the time on both dates are from 9am to 11am.

Do attend the course, otherwise you can't get your Energy Efficiency badge ! (:

Hope yall are doing good with your exams, make sure you balance your time well! Heard that you guys will be having a mid-year camp from 17th to 20th June, better make it good and memorable okay, especially your gadgets and tent-pitching, and don't leave stuffs like your patrol identity and flag to the last minute!

HELLO GUIDES ! ;D

The proficiency badge submission form is already put up on this blog under 'Downloads'.

Please refer to it and have it printed when you have to submit your badges to the respective leaders.
You will have to fill the form accordingly and tick the completed clause.
For the tester's name, you will have to fill in the teacher's/guider's name who has looked through your badge.
For example, for Artist Badge, you will have to get the Art teacher's name as well as her signature.

Reminder: Guides are supposed to complete an individual badge by the end of Mid-Year examinations and have it submitted on the first training after the examinations.

Promotion Test 2010

Guides, please take note of the finalised dates for Promotion Test:

Practical Test - 16th January 2010 (Saturday). Reporting time at 9am.
Theory Test - 20th January 2010 (Wednesday). Reporting time at 7.45am.
Interview - 23rd January 2010 (Saturday) Reporting time to be confirmed.

Theory Test:
1) Knowledge of history of guiding movement.
2) Important events in the history of guiding.
3) Recent events in guiding.
4) Fundamentals in guiding.

Practical Test:
1) Knots and lashings
-Reef knot
-Clove hitch
-Square lash
-Diagonal lashing
-Tripod lashing
-Pole hitch

2) Firelighting
-Bring your own twigs and pungs. No sharing or borrowing is allowed.
- Limited time will be given for you to start and sustain your fire.

5) Guides are to hand in your Promotion Survey by 15th January at the end of traning session.

Hi girls,

There are new updates on the trainings. Please check documents : Programme Planning Group and Term 3 & 4 v2 under 'DOWNLOADS'. I have put up a copy on the guide board also.

Programme planning groups, please make sure that you do the correct 5-Point Programme topics. Check the titles carefully.

Take note that guides training will continue in the week of term test as we have to make-up for the sessions missed earlier.

Dear girls,

Please take note of the following important announcements to be made. As spoken to you on Friday, for the time being, information about trainings and activities via this blog. Patrol Leaders, please ensure that your members are aware of the updates.

1. Website for Total Defence Badges : Bronze ( sec one), Silver ( sec two) and Gold ( sec 3).

Dateline for this badge: 24th July 2009. Please hand up this badge to the respective leaders.

2. Level proficiency badges are due this Friday, 17th July 2009. Please hand it up to your respective leaders.

3. The schedule for Programme Planning Group is out. In view of H1N1, groups must prepare 2 versions for the part on the 5 Point Programme. One version is the one to be conducted in class and the second one is using powerpoint slides for the 5-Point Programme so that it can be used as online learning. Please look for the various forms you need to fill up for your proposal.

I have attached the documents on the grouping as well as what we want to cover during trainings. Please look for documents: Guides Schedule Term 3 & 4 and Programme Planning Group. Please read the schedules properly before planning.

COMPULSORY for every member in the Programme Planning Group to meet Ms Ruziana / Ms Soh on the Tuesday of the week. Be prepared to make changes, if need be. It is important that we meet early in the week so as to allow information to be disseminated.

4. Sec Twos, online submission for SANA badge is at the end of this July. Please complete your task. If not, you will not get your badges.

5. COH is this Saturday, 18th July 2009. PLs and PSs, you need to be present during this meeting. It will start at 9am, ICreate Room.

6. NDP Contingent: Do your best and be proud to be in the contingent. Utmost importance is your attire and your resilience in enduring the trainings. You are representing the Company. Do your best. The trainings are also reflected in the document: Guides Schedule Term 3 & 4. Mandy will update you regarding the trainings, in view of H1N1.

7. For the benefit of those who have forgotten how to address appropriately during trainings, let this be the last time the teachers have to ever remind you. No holter-neck bras, no multiple ear studs, no earrings, the importance of wearing your belt at all times and your 4-finger length of socks. All school rules on attire will apply to you as a member of the Uniformed Group so if you can dress appropriately for school, you should be able to do the same for your CCA. Be proud to be a guide.

8. Please check the blog for regular updates. Patrol Leaders, please find out from your members if anyone has difficulties logging on to the school portal. Please inform Jia Hui if there is any problem.

9. Trainings for this Friday will be cancelled in view of H1N1. You are to complete the 5-point programme through online learning via the school portal by this week.

10. Any updates will be done via this blog or sms. Please be alert.

Hi girls!

Please take note of the following details:

1) Ms Soh and I would want to meet EVERYONE (sec1s to sec3s) straight after lesson this Friday at 1pm behind the canteen.

We have IMPORTANT announcements to make so everyone MUST be around to receive the information.

Please bring along your notebook/stardate and pen and BE PUNCTUAL! I have oral examinations to conduct in another school so I seek cooperation for everyone to come on time.

2) We would also have the continuation of NDP training & NDP selection this Friday at 230pm for the company. Attire will be half-u (guide t & guide skirt), with your hat.

Lunch break will be from around 145pm to 230pm after the announcements. By the end of Friday, we would need to finalise the names of the guides participating in NDP. If not, we will not be able to participate in the parade and Guides will not be represented in NDP this year.

Therefore, please ask those guides whom you think can make it to come for this selection.

3) Trainings will end by 4pm.

Hi girls!

This is the training notice for 25/06/2009.

Pls ensure that you have sewn your new patrol emblem correctly (it should form one straight line with the first button of your uniform and thinking day patch).

Your socks should be 4fingers above your ankle and your shoes must be WHITE canvas shoe.

The reporting time for the NDP contingent (including flag bearer, escort and state flag) is 8am while the reporting time for non-NDP is 10am.

Pls make sure that all hairs are tied before reporting time or else you will be considered as late.

Lastly, all positions here can be subjected to changes if a guide repeatedly refuse to turn up for trainings or their drilling is not up to standard.

HELLO ALL! :D

Well, the results for the post are out, and I really would like to congratulate all those who were promoted! For those who got their desired posts, congrats, may you excel in striving to bring YTGG to greater heights. For those who didn't get the post you wanted, don't be sad aite! It's the contribution that matters the most, no matter what rank you hold. And remember, all of you have to move as a cohort and as a company. Get rid of the word 'cliques' when you're in Guides :D

And as for the training on the 18th, I hope all of you will be able to show us your best abilities. Getting into the NDP contingent (for school) is really something nice, and the experience, both good or bad , will be worth it. We really hope to see the best from all of you!

Till here, and do enjoy your holidays! (Yes I know that your homework is piling up, and that you have to balance it with Guides training every now and then, but ENDURE! You have to strive hard to be on top )

Hi girls!

Pls take note that there will be a training on 18th June, from 830 to 1300. Attire will be half u (guide t and guide skirt). This is a NDP selection, opened for sec1s to sec3s. The selection will be based on your marching capablities, irregardless of which level you are from.

Below is the number of guides we need for this year's parade:

If you wish to be in any of this, please do YOUR BEST in this training. Please also take note that selection will only be held once as the names of selected guides have to be submitted on 20th June.

Hi girls!

As promised, this is the new list of PLs and your patrols. Do remember to change your patrol emblem (you can either buy at HQ or exchange among yourself).

We are sorry that we have to cut down to 8 patrols because our company is shrinking. With a smaller number of patrols but more guides in each patrol, we believe that you girls can bond together more and make your guiding years a memorable one. What is important is that we stay strong as a company :)

There will be a uniform check before ROD. Details will be told to you again. Pls check this blog regularly :)

3. POP/Promotion will be held on 25/06/09. Pls make sure that ALL patrol emblems are already changed.

4. At any point of time when you are coming to school for ROD or other trainings, do remember to bring 2ndhand stuff to sell during GGS carnival :)

HELLO!
I am terribly sorry for abandoning this blog for the past few weeks. Or months. Ok nvm.

Anyway today, our Sec Ones are successfully enrolled into Guiding! WELCOME TO GIRL GUIDES, SEC ONES! :D Must enjoy and treasure your time in GG, it'll etch deep memories in yourself, no matter good or bad.

Anyhoo, pleasepleaseplease check the Guide Board regularly! The Programme Planning groups has been altered a little, and please check our weekly training notices. they should be up by, latest, wednesday lunch. So don't give excuses for not knowing there's training/what to bring/what to do! I'll make you stay in school and stare at the Guide board for hours. Joking :D

As for the promotion test, I have just one thing to say. SEE LAH, NEVER MEMORISE WORLD SONG! SERVE YOU PEOPLE RIGHT FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO ANSWER. Okay, kidding. Go memorise your world song kay? It's easy.

Sec Twos and Threes, PLEASEEEEE DO YOUR BEST IN GUIDES. Aid the sec ones well! Make sure get GOLD PNA award for 2009 again!
